Our scholarship with the Colegrave Seabrook Foundation

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve partnered with the Colegrave Seabrook Foundation (CSF) to launch a – new for 2025 – Wyevale Nurseries Scholarship of up to £1,500.

It’s available for students interested in nursery stock and for those seeking a Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) bursary for the Level 2 or 3 RHS Qualification.

Encouraging young horticulturists

Andy Johnson, our Managing Director, says:

“We’re delighted to add our name and support to the encouragement of young horticulturists in their early career stages.

“We are part of a diverse and rewarding industry and see working with CSF in their well-established programme as a simple and clear way to stand alongside others in the industry to demonstrate the value we place on supporting new talent and the development of skills and industry knowledge.”

Who can apply

You can apply for the Wyevale Nurseries Scholarship if you are studying Horticulture and related subjects, and you have a particular interest in the commercial production of hardy nursery stock, trees, forestry and hedging.

About CSF

Now known as the CSF, the David Colegrave Foundation was set up in 1993, following the death of seedsman, David Colegrave. During his career, David Colegrave took a keen interest in supporting and promoting the development of young people.

His great friend Peter Seabrook, and fellow horticulturist, became one of the founder trustees and remained a very active trustee until his death in January 2022. Peter shared David’s passion for horticulture and encouraging young people to join the industry.

The trustees, with the blessing of the Seabrook family, felt that changing the name to The Colegrave Seabrook Foundation would be a fitting and lasting tribute to Peter’s untiring work to promote horticulture as a career and his tremendous support and enthusiasm for the industry.

The foundation offers scholarships for horticultural and plant science students in the UK, whether full-time, part-time, or through an apprenticeship.

Other scholarships

The Smart Garden Products Student Scholarship scheme also returns for 2025, offering financial support and the chance to join the Knowledge Development Tour.

Various scholarships assist with study expenses, emphasising student attitude, ability, and ambition, not means testing.
