Job Summary

We are looking for someone to join our lifting team. The role involves using a tractor and trailer to collect a variety of plants from various locations around the nursery to a specified grade and pot size. You will also need to package the plants carefully to ensure our customers receive them in good condition.

Depending on business needs you may also be helping other departments on the nursery.

Key requirements for the position are:

  • Physically fit, as the role involves lifting plants and trees onto trailers for packaging and despatch.
  • Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Willing to drive a tractor (previous experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided).
  • Self-motivated, as the role involves an amount of lone working.
  • You will need to meet targets with lifting rates to achieve KPIs.
  • A strong team player, with the ability to work effectively in small groups on larger orders.
  • Excellent attention to detail, ensuring the correct items are lifted to the required standards.
  • Flexible regarding working hours: typical hours are Monday–Friday, 06:50–15:30 during the summer months and 07:50–16:30 during the winter months. Overtime may be required during busy periods, sometimes at short notice this could including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Flexible regarding work tasks: during quieter periods, you may be asked to assist with other departments, such as weeding, potting/production lines, and trimming plants.
  • Reliable with good timekeeping and punctuality.
  • Previous horticultural experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
  • Previous forklift experience is desirable but not essential. Training may be offered upon successful completion of the probation period, depending on business needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £24,762.00-£25,370.00 per year
