Crop Protection/Despatch
We have a permanent position (39 hours) available within the business. This role will be split across the crop protection department and despatch. You will be expected to drive a tractor and operate machinery. This role is November – April in despatch, May – October in crop protection.
Areas of responsibilities:
· To carry out spraying operations on crop protection including pest and disease and weeding
· To cropwalk areas of the nursery to monitor for pest and disease
· To lift orders on both amenity and despatch as required/to work on lorry & transport loading trees and plants
· To operate spraying equipment including motorised knapsacks and in time ATV
The successful applicant will:
· Be fully tractor trained
· Be willing to work early starts on crop protection
· Be flexible in terms of working longer hours at short notice when needed.
· Have a passion for plants & pest and disease knowledge
· Be entirely aware of health and safety requirements. Crop protection specific will be taught
· Have good organisational skills
· Be self-motivated
· Be subject to annual lung function and blood sampling tests as chemical products will be used
Training:
· Successful applicant will be put through PA1 (Safe Handling & Application of Pesticides) & PA6 (Handheld Applicators on Land) training.
· In time applicant will be put through PA2 (Boom Sprayer) training
· Applicant will be taught identification of pest and diseases as well as crop walking by Production Manager
