Our plant selection is highly respected across the industry and our experienced team regularly introduces new, award-winning varieties.
Our product development is critical to meeting future market demands and availability. We’re also always looking at emerging trends and seeking alternatives for disease-susceptible varieties.
We’ve formed strong relationships with young plant breeders and are introducing new plants, which will be sustainable long into the future. Having a dedicated trials area means we’re able to continually assess and develop new varieties before going to market too.
We also regularly win awards at the annual Horticultural Trades Association National Plant Show New Plant Awards for new introductions.
Biosecurity pioneers
As British biosecurity pioneers, we’re part of the Defra-endorsed Plant Health Alliance’s Plant Healthy Certification scheme.
This ensures we produce only the best quality plants for our customers.
Our Plant Healthy certification was obtained following an external audit of our nursery biosecurity protocols. It covers containers, transplants and trees.
Methods
We’ve our own propagation facilities and are one of a few British horticultural nurseries left to propagate Hardy Nursery Stock. This has helped us remain competitive in a busy marketplace and has also allowed us to better serve customers’ needs.
We champion British grown and sown plants, which are important environmentally and are also in demand by consumers.
In 2022, we opened our new cold store facilities. This has allowed us to extend our bare root hedging and forestry transplant supply season to assist customers.
Before doubling our cold storage capacity, the final date for lifting bare root hedging and forestry transplants was March. Now our stock is prime for despatch into April.
The Future
We’re a modern organisation and are continually reviewing our working practices to ensure we’re at the cutting edge of developments. Our aim is to service our customers efficiently and effectively while also predicting, and even starting, horticultural trends.
