Cian takes root & grows into senior role

30th August, 2022

Cian Lynch has been appointed as Senior Business Support Administrator for our Transplant team (April 2022).

The 25-year-old has passed through our inhouse apprenticeship programme, completing it in 2021, and has most recently worked with
us as an Amenity Sales Executive.

“We’re very pleased to announce that Cian has accepted the

role of Senior Business Support Administrator at our Transplant Division site office.

It’s wonderful to see our own homegrown talent developing and being promoted within the business.“

Carol Dickinson, Head of Business Support

Fresh Ideas

Investing in the younger generation like this and sharing our knowledge will ensure the industry continues to thrive. We’re very much looking forward to the fresh ideas, energy and enthusiasm Cian will bring to his new role.

Alongside his day-to-day duties, he will also be spending time with Adrian Cituran, Transplants Production Manager, to understand production operations and site management. The team and I would like to congratulate Cian and we look forward to working together.

Cian’s new role includes covering our Transplant division’s office administration and operational tasks including stock control, pick management and health and safety.

Delighted

He says: “I’m delighted with my new role. I thoroughly enjoy working here at Wyevale Nurseries and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in. I’ve been in the industry for four years and I’m very passionate about horticulture. I started out as a Level three Crop Technician Apprentice and had very little knowledge. Now I feel much more confident and have gained lots of skills and experience.

“At the start of my apprenticeship, I rotated around each department and learnt a lot. During this time, I was taught how to prune and maintain crops, irrigate effectively, apply pesticides safely, and much more. I also studied at Pershore to cover the academic side of things too.

Extra-curricular courses

As well as having industry recognised qualifications taken as part of his apprenticeship, in his spare time, Cian, who is a member of Young People in Horticulture Association, has taken extra-curricular online courses in botany, soils and hydroponics to broaden his knowledge.

“I am also an environmentally friendly person, so my aim is to help reduce the industry’s carbon footprint and Wyevale Nurseries’ too. I would like to achieve this by helping the team continue with its work mitigating pollution, wastage and increasing recycling.

Lots to learn

“I am very much looking forward to working with Adrian. I think it’s really important for all generations to have a symbiotic relationship, as this is key to the future of horticulture. I know I have lots to learn from the Transplant team.”
